AfroCentric EssentialMED reviews
Essential has showed me flames . They not going to pay the doctor for when i was admitted . They didn't pay for my blood test …
Whilst they are fast at replying to mails - after using the claims process a few times, I am now suddenly being bombarded with amounts owed by service providers (that were covered on the network supposedly). Very disappointed.
If I could give 0 stars I would. We started the pre-authorisation process more than a week before my husband's surgery was scheduled (they claim 48 hours is needed) his surgery date was then canceled as we had no feedback from this so …

If I could give 0 stars I would. We started the pre-authorisation process more than a week before my husband's surgery was scheduled (they claim 48 hours is needed) his surgery date was then canceled as we had no feedback from this so-called 48-hour processing claim. Absolutely nothing learned about the process on the website - you have to rely on the brochure sent out. Poor.
I am having the WORST experience with AfroCentric EssentialMed. I joined them in January because of COVID and I didn't want to risk going to government and have to be on a waiting list. I urgently needed my eyes tested and new glasses as the government hospitals weren't seeing patients in my area at the time. The only good thing was that their agent answered all my questions. Moving on to March 2021, I got admitted in the hospital thru emergency and they told me everything is covered, and now I have a bill of +/- R80 000. Tell me how that works?! They get the dr's bill and then decide that the procedure didn't warrant admission. I was admitted and had to have a ceremonial Covid test! Even after dealing with the so called 'manager', still no joy. They even played a voicenot where he says my family member changed their story, what?! They are not paying, won't release my monthly premiums so my medical helps will lapse. DO NOT JOIN THEM!
Worst service ever. Claimants department should know what is covered by the medical insurance before they advise and proceed with the process of claims.
Terrible service! They never come close to paying for surgeries!!! They are very unethical and don’t cover all hospitalization cost! Sometimes don’t even pay for the tests they say they cover! Please please don’t use this product. I learnt the hard way!!
DO NOT USE AfroCentric Payment group .. they are pathetic when it comes to paying out my claim ... I'm instructed to chase people up and down for them to do a job. This is pathetic.
This is the worst medical aid company I've ever been with. It is shocking. I am facing serious harrassment from providers who have not been paid 5 months later for services provided. I am no longer a member of Afrocentric and have indicated this to the providers. Due to the assistance, I called them in June and was reassured that the matter was resolved. Can you explain why the handover to my new medical aid now reflect 5 months later? Surely this is illegal.
Absolutely pathetic. Might I add, completely broken system, don't care at all, they couldn't even care less of educating their own staff. Reverted due to frustrations, spoke to a few consultants and they themselves are struggling to get through what their systems offer, if it even does. One very rude lady even told me that she wouldn't be surprised that this plan excludes dental when I brought up needing dental fillings cause this admin is a ghost town.
I believe in giving praise where it is due! I had the most amazing help from a very understanding nurse. She did not exclude emotion. I am thrilled that in my birthday month. After my bad experience with the other team. A new team member came to the rescue! And this made up for all the terrible issues we face!
Dreadful service. Claims not handled effectively leaving me out of pocket. Claims resolution service is a joke. No one be fooled by glowing reviews, no doubt posted by staff happy with service.
My mother's claim had been moving at a snail's pace, which embarrassed me as I had personally recommended AfroCentric. I have sent emails to the escalation address and everything, yet still no response. They claim that they will revert and investigate but that never happens. Linda Chambers reached out to me from the complaints line allegedly, yet when I phone her on the number provided (0860 102 706), this line doesn't exist? Catch 22 you see. Can someone please look into the fact that these people are going to receive a substantial amount and to this day they have cancelled the hospital plan and have DONE NOTHING!!! (I can give my mother permission to speak on my behalf if it helps the investigation, might be best).
