Beautiful fort with an exhibition of some border war stuff: all very interesting. What is also interesting, is that no shot was ever fired from the fort… at least it would have given them some sense of security, I guess.
This military heritage site which dates back to the South African War Era, is part of the Voortrekker monument experience. Great for a quick outing with excellent views of the Pretoria area.
The museum was a huge surprise and so well done in the space that is available. The shop is worth spending a bit of money in. The views of the Union Buildings, Freedom Park, Unisa and Pretoria CBD are fantastic.
