I was totally shocked while attending a funeral in Chatsworth on Wednesday. Marianhill Funeral Services was the designated service provider. Apparently the priest is recommended by the funeral service & included in the package. His knowledge of the Catholic faith was limited and he was not even aware of some of the key prayers and rituals associated with a funeral Mass. This was extremely disappointing and disheartening as the main purpose of a funeral is to provide comfort and solace to the grieving family and friends. It is essential that the priest conducting the service is well-prepared and capable of leading the congregation in a meaningful and supportive way. Unfortunately, this was not the case on this occasion.
